OAK FLOORING PORTFOLIO

Oak flooring is available in a wide range of sizes - from narrow planks to wide boards, and in various thicknesses and  grades - from clear to characterful and knotty.  Unfinished oak can be stained in a vast array of colours and sealed in varying gloss levels - from extra matt to glossy.  Unfinished oak flooring can be stained and sealed using an oil-based finish or with water-based polyurethane sealers.

FinOak Engineered Oak Flooring

The bedrooms of this house in Bedfordview  were updated with factory pre-finished engineered oak flooring from Finfloor.  The flooring is Cedarberg which is a rustic grade, lightly brushed oak floor with a matt sealer.

Engineered Siberian Oak Flooring - Houghton

Two garden cottages were renovated at this magnificent property in Houghton.  New Siberian Oak flooring was chosen for the staircases and living areas.  Siberian oak is a fairly clear grade of oak, there are some knots and sapwood giving the floor character.  Where necessary sub-floors were water-proofed and leveled before the floors were installed.  The flooring was site sealed with Loba 2K Invisible Protect, a very durable, extra matt sealer that keeps the oak a light colour and natural looking.  The same flooring was used to clad the staircases, linking the two levels of the cottages.

Oak flooring - cluster house in Bryanston

Engineered Oak floors were installed in this modern cluster in Bryanston.  The floors were sealed with Loba 2K Invisible Protect, a commercial grade, extra-matt sealer.  The pictures above were taken a year after the installation was done, giving an idea of what your floors would look like after they have matured, and any natural changes to the colour of the timber has taken place.  The Loba sealer used on this floor is an imported, water-based polyurethane finish.  The sealer was chosen to keep the original, just sanded, colour of the oak, along with high levels of durability and easy cleaning - no regular maintenance as required with an oiled finish.

Oak floors & staircase - Rosebank

Solid oak stair-nosing was added to engineered oak flooring to clad the staircase in this townhouse in Rosebank.  The floor planks used in the staircase were the same as those used in other parts of the house.  The treads and risers were pre-finished in Lobasol 2K Impact Oil white.   Solid wood skirting boards were painted white and installed to finish off the edges of the stairs - bent to cover the edges of the curved sections.

Solid Oak Flooring - sanded and sealed

The original solid oak floors had a white stain and a semi-gloss sealer applied and was in fairly poor condition.  The oak floor was sanded and the re-sealed with 2 coats of Loba WS 2K Invisible Protect - a water-based matt sealer that keeps the "just sanded" timber colour.
